Message Wastegates restrict the amount of exhaust gasses going to the turbo. It's set for a certain psi and once it reaches that psi it will open and let the remaining exhaust gasses pass through as not to overboost.

Blow off valves (pop off valves, bypass valves, recirculating valves) blow off excess compressed air that has been created by the turbos. Recirculating valves take it a set further and recycles the excess air back into the intake. Under acceleration, instead of the excess air being pushed back into the turbo backwards it will expell the excess air and the turbos will continue to spin forwards.

: I generaly know the "idea" behind them but wanted clarification mainly between wastegates and blowoffs. Do they pretty much do the samething?

: Thanks.
